Robber shoots delivery man in Oxford Circle

Robbers lured a Chinese restaurant delivery man to a vacant Oxford Circle house and shot him on Jan. 28.

The victim, a 60-year-old man, suffered critical chest wounds, but survived the ambush, according to Capt. Frank Palumbo, commander of the 2nd Police District. The robbery was the fourth similar crime in the same area in the last month, the captain said.

It happened at about 7:30 p.m. on the 6200 block of Kindred St. Investigators believe that several unknown culprits took part in the crime and used a vacant house as a dummy address. They ordered food from a nearby restaurant and attacked the delivery man upon his arrival. One of the crooks was armed with a gun and shot the victim, who was treated at Albert Einstein Medical Center. The robbers fled.

Palumbo said the method and general descriptions of the robbers were similar to those reported in three earlier crimes in the Summerdale and Oxford Circle area. Police have not released detailed descriptions of the crooks. ••
